Grades K-5

Theatre arts education integrates life and learning through experience. Comprehensive classes are led by professional teaching artists to enhance creative expression while developing useful life skills.

Session 3: In a Galaxy Far, Far Away!
Tuesdays, 4:45-5:45
February 6 – March 6
Instructor: Rudd Rayfield

Make the jump to hyperspace and be a Jedi Knight, a Sith Lord, a droid, an Ewok, or any being from Star Wars! Students will use their imaginations to create their own original Star Wars character, then join with the other students to come up with an original adventure set in the Star Wars galaxy. This will be turned into a play, rehearsed, and performed for family and friends during the last class period.

Session 4: Dinosaurs Before Dark
Tuesdays, 4:45-5:45
March 20 – April 17
Instructor: Siri Brobst

If you were transported back to the time when dinosaurs ruled the earth, would you befriend a pterodactyl? Tease a T-rex? Tickle a stegosaurus? In this class, inspired by the popular first book in the Magic Tree House series, students will create an original play to share with families and friends on the last day.

Session 5: Puppet Power
Tuesdays, 4:45-5:45
May 1 – May 29
Instructor: Hannah Halvorson

In this special play creation class, students will not only write and perform an original story, but will in fact build the characters themselves, as they create new and unique puppet creations with the help of a professional artist. The puppets will go home with students after a performance on the last day.
